British Standard BS 5306-3 requires an annual service of all fire extinguishers by a competent person, plus a monthly visual check by the user.
How often should fire alarms be tested?+
Fire alarm systems should be tested weekly on site, with a full service by a qualified engineer at least every 6 months to BS 5839.
What about emergency lighting?+
Emergency lighting must be tested monthly and receive a full annual duration test to BS 5266.
